Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I get rid of an old mattress?
Mattresses are accepted at the Seabrook NH Transfer Station for a per-item fee based on size. Single or twin: $15, full or queen: $20, king: $25. Box springs are slightly less ($10, $15, $20). Mattresses must be free of bedbugs and excessive moisture. Wrap stained or soiled mattresses before transport.
-
Can I bring paint cans or stain?
Latex (water-based) paint: Allow the can to dry out completely. Add cat litter or sawdust if needed. Once fully solid, the can may be disposed of with regular household trash.
Oil-based paint, stain, and lacquer: Not accepted under State of New Hampshire regulation. These must be taken to a household hazardous waste collection event. Watch the Public Works announcements page for upcoming dates.
-
What do I do with old electronics like TVs, computers, and monitors?
Televisions, projector screens, and computers (including monitors and laptops) are accepted at $15.00 each. There is no separate handling fee. Bring electronics directly to the designated drop-off area at the station. Please do not leave them with regular trash.
-
How do I dispose of a refrigerator or freezer?
Refrigerators and freezers are accepted with or without doors. With doors: $20 each. Doors removed: $15 each. Removing the doors helps the facility safely handle refrigerant. Stoves, washing machines, and dryers are accepted free of charge.
-
Where do I take household hazardous waste (HHW)?
The Seabrook NH Transfer Station does not accept hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. The Town of Seabrook participates in periodic regional HHW collection events. Acceptable HHW materials include oil-based paints, pesticides, solvents, pool chemicals, and automotive fluids. Watch the Public Works announcements page or call 603-474-9765 for the next event date.
-
Can I bring construction debris from a home project?
Construction debris, painted wood, pressure-treated lumber, and asphalt shingles are accepted at $125.00 per ton. Loads under 50 lb are charged a flat $3.00 minimum. Loads are weighed at the scale house on arrival. Commercial contractors should call ahead to confirm acceptance.
-
How are tires charged?
Passenger tires up to 24.5″ off the rim are $5 each. Tires still on the rim are $6 each. Tractor, commercial, truck, and equipment tires are $20 each due to handling and oversize disposal requirements. Limit applies on residential drop-offs.
