Seabrook Library Presents Muttville Comix

The Seabrook Library will present a comedy dog show called Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix on Wednesday, Oct.14, 2015, at 7:00 pm in the Library Meeting Room.
A Ringling Brothers Clown College graduate, Johnny Peers has been working with dogs since he got his first puppy from the Humane Society in 1972. Since their 1980 debut, the Muttville Comix have appeared on the David Letterman Show and venues as swank as the White House. See Daphne, the world’s only skateboarding basset hound; Squeaky, the ladder-climbing fox terrier; Mr. Pepe, who only responds to commands in Spanish; and Sir Winston, the pointer mix who only answers to “Sir.” Free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served.

Police Chief Lee Bitomske Announces Retirement

Police Chief Lee Bitomske came to the September 21, 2015 meeting of the Board of Selectmen and announced his retirement. He has put in over 30 years of service to Seabrook. On behalf of the Board of Selectmen we wish Chief Bitomske the very best in retirement. He has served his community with honor and distinction.

Seabrook Library- Presentation on Benedict Arnold

The Seabrook Library will present a program on Benedict Arnold, Patriot on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the Seabrook Library, 25 Liberty Lane in Seabrook.
We all “know” Benedict Arnold, the traitor of 1780, but this ignores his many exploits of 1775, 1776 and 1777, when the dream of independence was at its most fragile.
A tiny American army, an advance through a howling wilderness. An attack against impossible odds in a blinding snowstorm. A scratch fleet overwhelmed by the Royal Navy—but delaying invasion for a fateful year, saving The Cause.
The presenter, George Morrison, takes us along a journey through New England, Quebec Province, and New York, exploring historic and modern images.
This program is free and open to the public.

September 11 Remembrance

It was quite an honor to have a small piece of the World Trade Center pass through Seabrook on its way to Portsmouth. We had quite a contingent of first responders on hand to pay respects to the memory of those we lost during the attack of September 11. We shall never forget the courage and sacrifice of those we lost on that day.

Rail Trail 5K Road Race

A very big congratulations to the Seabrook Friends of the Rail Trail, who recently held a very successful 5K Road Race to support the cause. A great rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by Brandy Baillargeon as well. Thanks to all of the Rail Trail Committee for all of their hard work.

Seabrook Station Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Seabrook Station celebrated their 25th Anniversary this past week and celebrated by bringing back some key management figures from the past, including Ed Brown and Ted Feigenbaum, who worked through so many obstacles to achieve licensing from the N.R.C. The Town of Seabrook congratulates the Seabrook Station and NextEra for a long and successful partnership with the Town, and especially to the employees of the Station, who work so hard and diligently to make it a safe and successful plant. The Dedication of the Fisherman’s Memorial

It was an honor to be present at the recent dedication of the Fisherman’s Memorial at Harborside Park, where a beautiful memorial stone was unveiled remembering those Seabrook residents who have been lost at sea. The Seabrook Board of Selectmen were on hand, and expressed their gratitude for the work put in by DPW Director Starkey on this project. Thanks also to former Selectman Bob Moore, who was a driving force in bringing this idea forward. There is a video clip with DPW Manager John Starkey’s remarks at the unveiling below.

Monument Dedication Tuesday August 4- Harborside Park

The Town of Seabrook will host an unveiling of the monument at Harborside Park dedicated to the memory of those Seabrook residents lost at sea. The ceremony will be at Harborside Park at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 4. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Seabrook Library Author Presentation: Daniel Korschun- We Are Market Basket

The Seabrook Library will present an author presentation and signing of the new book, We Are Market Basket; the Story of the Unlikely Grassroots Movement That Saved a Beloved Business on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the Seabrook Library, 25 Liberty Lane in Seabrook.

The co-author, Daniel Korschun, Associate Professor of Marketing at Drexel University, will discuss this watershed labor movement. The unprecedented event was watched by millions around the world on TV and is the subject of at least two documentaries. The book includes interviews with executives at Market Basket, associates, professors at area colleges, vendors, customers, lawmakers, and even the governor of New Hampshire.

This program is free and open to the public.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen Visits Seabrook

It was wonderful to have Senator Jeanne Shaheen visit Seabrook and talk about federal transportation funding, and how that funding impacts local projects, specifically the very critical Route 1 widening scheduled for next year. As always the Town of Seabrook recognizes and truly appreciates the work of the Rockingham County Planning Commission as well as the New Hampshire D.O.T. Both have been truly great partners for the Town on this project, and many others. We truly appreciate Senator Shaheen taking the time to visit, and for all of the federal assistance she has brought to Seabrook. The video of her remarks is attached.
